Indie & Mae Ingredients
It's difficult to know what all of the ingredients are without a background in health and beauty, so I've done all the work for you. With no nasties in any of the Indie & Mae ranges and a description of what some of our ingredients are and why they're great.
Aqua: Purified water.
Sodium Methy Cocoyl Taurate: Not to be confused with Sodium Lauryl sulphate this is a water soluble, coconut derived surfectant is incredibly mild & one of the safest on the market.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine: Derived from Coconut, cocamidopropyl beataine is a mild, non irritating foaming agent. It is used to thicken shampoos & reduce irritation.
Decyl Glucoside: A natural plant derived, mild & biodegradable non ionic surfactant which is used in cosmetics for individuals with sensitive skin.
Coco: Is a non-ionic surfactant (foaming agent, conditioner or emulsifier). It is derived from coconut oil and fruit sugars which are both renewable resources.
Glyceryl Oleate: Glyceryl Oleate is the ester of glycerin and oleic acid. It is produced from oils that contain high concentrations of oleic acid, such as olive oil, peanut oil, teaseed oil or pecan oil. It is used as an emulsifier (mixes oil and water).
Ethylhexylglycerin: Has three jobs in our products: prevent the product from spoiling, keep the product from separating, and to soften your hair.
Hydrolized Quinoa: A natural protein for hair color retention, conditioning, and protection. Quinoa is considered a complete protein, containing seventeen amino acids, including all eight essential amino acids. ... The proteins in Hydrolized Quinoa into the hair shaft for powerful protection.
Polyquaternium-10: is Cellulose which is derived from plants, and it’s also the most abundant polymer found in nature.
Potassium Sorbate: This ingredient is one that is synthetic, although it is approved on the certified organic list of ingredients as one of the mildest forms of preservatives.
Olea Europaea (Olive Fruit Oil)*: This Oil has repairing and protective properties. It contains omega-6 fatty acids, is used as an emollient and adds moisture in our hair care products.
Squalane: This is a plant based saturated oil that is highly moisturising on both the hair & skin.
Linumusitatissimum (Linseed Oil)* Flaxseed Oil is a superfood for hair follicles because it's rich in fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids nourish hair follicles promoting healthy hair growth.
Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower seed Oil)*: Sunflower oil is packed with high amounts of essential oils including Vitamin E and reduces bacteria that contributes to product build up and dry scalp.
Citric Acid: Citric acid is obtained by feeding Aspergillus sucrose or glucose (sugar) derived from corn starch. In the cosmetics industry, it is used to optimise the pH in formulations to ensure healthy skin and hair. It is also widely used in the food industry.
Hippophae Rhamnoides (Seabuckthorn seed Oil)*
Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract: This powerful herb has superior antioxidant strength, making it a favourite in the preservation of food and cosmetics. Rosemary extract is used to slow microbial growth on food and prevents oxidation of oils in skin care formulations.
Cetostearyl Alcohol: Derived from coconut oil, cetearyl alcohol is used as an emulsifier and moisturiser and provides a creaminess to products.
Behentrimonium Methosulphate: Derived from non-GMO grapeseed oil, is one of the mildest hair-detangling ingredients available today. This scientifically sophisticated ingredient is renowned for its superior detangling ability without causing build-up on the hair. Itis not part of the sulfate family .
